Gabriel Mlay
Gabriel Mlay is a seasoned finance and audit professional with more than 13 years of expertise across banking, insurance, financial management, auditing, taxation, compliance, and risk management. Currently serving as an Assistant Audit Manager, Gabriel excels in leading and managing external audits for a wide variety of clients in sectors such as construction, NGOs, government institutions, and private companies. He has consistently demonstrated a strong ability to deliver high-quality audit services, ensuring strict adherence to international standards, including IFRS, IPSAS, and Tanzanian regulatory requirements.
Gabriel holds a CPA (T), an MBA in Corporate Management, and several certifications, including a Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (COP) and Certified Professional Banker (CPB-T). He has further strengthened his capabilities with specialized knowledge in risk management, compliance frameworks, and regulatory audits.
Throughout his career, Gabriel has led numerous external audit engagements, managing audit planning, risk assessments, and audit strategy formulation to ensure compliance and uncover potential risks. He has overseen audits for high-profile clients across construction, telecom, manufacturing, and government sectors. Gabriel is particularly skilled in forensic auditing, having conducted investigations into procurement fraud, misappropriation, and weaknesses in internal controls, providing actionable recommendations to strengthen clients' governance frameworks.
Gabriel’s leadership experience spans across managing audit teams, overseeing financial operations, and advising clients on tax planning and compliance strategies. His sectoral expertise includes financial services, construction, manufacturing, and NGOs, as well as significant experience with donor-funded projects.
In addition to his professional success, Gabriel is deeply committed to community development and leadership. He has held various leadership roles in local and international organizations, contributing to governance, policy development, and financial oversight. He is also an active member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) and the Tanzania Institute of Bankers (TIOB).
